Let’s get it on, Marvyn - my furry friend
I had breakfast with Marvyn today, we each shared a goal
Me with my full coffee cup, and he with his pet’s bowl
For me, a bacon sandwich; for him his favourite treat
Then I settled down to stroke his ears, while he nuzzled at my feet
He sleeps up on the shed top roof with leaves above for shade
He can be there most of the day, till sunlight starts to fade
And if my backdoor’s open, suddenly there he appears
To pop in for a cuddle or a stroke behind his ears
In short, I’m in love with next door’s cat, in that I feel no shame
I love our strange acquaintance, and I'm sure he feels the same
For at least 10 years, this outdoor cat that doesn’t go too far
Circuits the garden and knows the Dreamies I keep in a jar
And though he doesn’t belong to me I feel in my defence
He caught my eye one day as I saw him stroll across my fence
I used to be afraid of cats and then one day I said, “Hi”
He turned his tabby face my way, and now I can’t think why
All because of the visits from this friendly and noble puss
I’m so glad I’m no longer that scared and fearful wuss
And ok, with the moggy treats I’ve become this cat’s enabler
But I can’t help but love my feline next door neighbour
