There is only one thing I want for Christmas this year but I know I won't get it so why bother with false cheer This whole holiday in fact seems such a bother That I am glad I am no longer a loving father
No gifts I have to rack my brains and buy No friendly greetings with which to lie Retailers round the world can go to Hell Cause I won't be ringing their Cash bell
Old Ebenezer had the right idea indeed A dark and dank cell with gruel as feed A piece of coal from your last visit here Barely heating this dismal atmosphere
Send your three Christmas spirits if you dare But know they don’t have a chance or a prayer Nobody wants a boy of clay anymore Not when there are 3D animations galore
I’m adapting to life alone on a shelf With no one to speak to not even an elf So it is here I sit alone with my thoughts Making up my own little clever retorts
Which brings me to the question I had in mind And I would like you to answer it, if you’d be so kind
When one receives a gift wrapped with a bow They tear at the wrapping, and not at all slow It doesn’t really matter what’s on the outside Cause what they really enjoy is on the inside
So why aren’t people treated like Christmas presents? paying less attention to the wrap and more to the Essence
because society is based on greed and the worship of material things ... the celebration of individuality and its legacy is replaced by personality worship ... unfortunately, the spirit of Christmas resides in an empty gift box ...
Wonderful question? Leaves one to ponder and speculate, but never finding the answers, right? God bless you and try to have a very Merry Christmas. After all it is Jesus's birthday, isn't it.....

In my mind Edward, this write is a cleverly cynical twist on 'The Night Before Christmas'. Your heart is showing beautifully, and your inimitable wit is as sharp and satisfying as ever. The analogy you create between presents and people is brilliant!
Have a blessed holiday season, and all the best to you in the coming year.

We're too caught up in the commercialism, we've forgotten the Real Reason for the Season. Excellent.
