We usually come and go from day to day
Then "Thanksgiving" comes and we pause to say
"I'm thankful for my family and friends."
"I'm grateful that I got to know them, along the way."
Then one season goes by and they are gone.
Folks that gathered at the table last year, disappeared!
We must be grateful for the friends and family we have now...
Tell them you love them today, before tomorrow slips away...

Here in the UK we don’t have an official Thanksgiving…
But this year we have said we are going to have
our own Thanksgiving meal, and remember all we have
to be grateful for, all our friends and family,
and all the people who have
contributed positively to our lives but who have now passed on…
It’s a beautiful celebration…

My twin brother recently attended our high school reunion in Wisconsin where I can no longer go. He said that everyone asked about me. Both of us were surprised to learn that over half of our class is gone. You're right about not knowing who will go next. We don't get to choose.
