The Continuing

Calendar pages
Ruffle in the breeze of time
Scattering its dust
Truth of collected seasons
Scribbled in their fading ink

Time breathes deeply. Softly exhales. Breathes in once more. Sometimes the continuing is not easy, not even for Time who has no choice, no plea for delay, no accepted excuse for remaining still. And we must follow its journeyed footsteps, its random trails and obscure paths, its never-ending search for tomorrow. And sometimes we too must breathe deeply. Exhale. Breathe in once again.

Because, like Time, we discover the 'continuing' is not always easy.

Sometimes, if I close my eyes and concentrate, it is as though I can feel time rushing past my face like a breezed. Your verses vividly brought this to my consciousness. Thank you, Myrna. Love and best wishes,

Regis

If everything was easy...we'd never savor the victory in 'continuing'...and there is victory in pushing on.

Continuing and breathing go hand-in-hand. Almost everything shuts down when we go to sleep or are unconscious, but we continue to breathe. As I found out recently in a hospital stay, without breathing, our time is short.

We must breathe to have any time at all in this world, so breathe deeply and enjoy the time we have. Who said life was easy?

The continuing poem is a wake up call for all. It's life! Amen

I find that "The Continuing" has become more desperate as time goes by. Whether physically or mentally, "The Continuing" is sometimes a work of art.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
