This happened sixty odd years ago in parts of Sydney. I wonder if any one has seen it rain frogs.

Raining Green& Gold Frogs

I saw it happen, I don’t know how

And no one I tell will believe me now

They came with a storm, I think it was spring

We laughed and danced with them and started to sing

They survived in our gardens for quite a few years

Down at *'the local' some poured out their beers

Some say it can’t happen and I misunderstood

But, I saw it happen so I know that it could

Footnote:*'The Local' is the Australian colloquial expression for the nearest  hotel.

A modern day plague?? Wow! I've heard of strange weather events, but never knew anyone who could verify it--until now. Well done, Joyce!

I actually remember reading in the newspaper some years ago about this happening, and another time it was fish that came down with the rain, so I believe you Joyce, really enjoyed the poem, thank you for it,
Steve

Your accounting of such an event is marvelous. Yes, I've seen the tiny frogs of which you speak, and many are transported from one country or continent to another. I suppose the moisture in the heavy rain clouds keep them alive until they are so heave it HAS to rain. I enjoyed your story very mucjh. - Bill

I have heard of this happening although I have never experienced it myself. Apparently, "windspouts" or whirlwinds can be powerful enough to scoop the contents of a pond and later on, rain them back to earth, or so I have been told. Thank you for sharing this delightful happening via your verses here, Joyce. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Yup, it rains many things, I was taught they get caught in a thing called a water spout-sucked up, then dumped- Hence it's raining cat n dogs, it happens at see with fish rather a lot, or is that just a fishermans tale..
LOL Glad you put the footnote...

Reminds me of the plagues that were sent in the bible...sometimes I think strange phenomenas happen to get people's attention...who knows? But, we do know who is in control!

Joyce,

This reminded me of Stephen King's Book of short stories" Needful Things" One of the stories was about it raining green frogs. The only difference was those frogs ate people.

Very good example of a phenomena that seems unexplained.
