I'm a pretty lucky kid,
'cause it rained last night.
The thunder and lightning
was quite a sight.

Next morning dog and I
went outside to play.
I never played harder
than I did that day.

We found every puddle
we could find.
Just sat right in
on our behind.

We made great mud pies
and forts with moats.
And took mud bathes
'clean' up to our throats.

Dog got stuck
and I pulled him out.
Told him this was what
fun was all about.

The sun was going down,
getting late in the day.
Dog and I decided we'd better
be on our way.

Told Dog we're coming back
tomorrow for more.
And started to go
into our front door.

Mom took one look at us
and her jaw hit the floor.
Told me to turn around
and go to the back door.

There on the porch was mom,
and a tub of water.
I didn't know, of the two,
who was the hotter.

She just shook her head,
and told me to jump in.
Said I could start by washing
off that silly grin.

Mom scrubbed me hard,
said, 'Boy you're a mess'.
Added something about clean
and Godliness.

After supper, mom said,
'Off with you upstairs.
And don't forget to say
your bedtime prayers'.

Thanked God for mom, dad,
Dog and my toys.
And especially making puddles
for Dirty Little Boys.
