Another poem on the evolution debate. In poonie form, of course

Poem Artwork

I was thinking about the debate
between evolutionist and creationist
the other day

I came to the conclusion
that evolutionist could come up
with a better, more believeable story
if they admitted God
had something to do with evolution.
That may fill in the bone trail.
(That’s like a paper trail, with pages missing).

And the creationist can’t quite make me believe
Genesis should be taken quite so literally.
(You know, who did Cain marry, a sister)?

How about this scenario?
Yeah, I believe God made man,
but his omnipotence may have been in question.
(Look around you, for crying out loud.
You been in the Mall lately)?

Did you write a great poem the first time?
Did you burn your first batch of cookies?
Was your ‘first time’ the best?
Did you throw a ringer the first time at horseshoes?
Maybe God just needed a little practice.

After a few Great Apes,
Funkey Monkeys,
a Piltdown and Neandertal or two,
he was probably pretty proud of himself.
He sat back, surveyed his work and said,
"If I get rid of a little hair,
make him stand up straight,
(God doesn’t like slouches),
I’ll have a pretty good little buddy here.

The final touch was cognitive thinking,
because who can talk to
Screech and Scratch, The Monkey Boy.

So, in his infinite power
God gave man a thinking brain.

Well Chit, there went that theory.
