Where Should We Turn, What Should We Do

This is just something I felt in my heart today as I think about anyone with children. We have made a habit of hiding our fears and suffering from them, because we love them. While we scream inside with our pain.

When we are young, life is so full of fun, we laugh and sing as we play in the sun,  starting our family is number one,

With each new baby, we smile, our hearts fill up with love,  yes I will give you all, my little doves, protect you, after all you were sent to me from God above,

I will provide your daily needs, and you will have what clothes you need to wear,  food in your tiny bellies, so you can grow strong,

All I ask in return, is that someday, you will return that love, by remembering    I am your mom, I don't ask much,  please remember,

I gave you everything there was to give, especially our love, you were most important, if you were to live.

My life was not my own, until you left, to make your own home, with your wife/husband and little ones, make us proud, be an honor to your family,

Maybe someday you will learn to understand, that the trials of life, can be mighty tough,   try to be there, open your eyes, just because you don't see me cry, doesn't mean I'm not hurting, yes life is rough,  I bet you never thought mom  would ever need,  but it seems the time has come, and with heavy hearts we feel sometimes we may not succeed.

Our hearts are heavy, we don't want to let you see, just how we feel, our hurt and our pain,

Our smile shines wide, but oh underneath, we feel so lost, and usually can't sleep.

We want nothing but the best for all of you, so  we try hard not to let our pain show through.

There's so much wisdom in your wonderfully crafted words, Selena! Indeed we do try to protect our children from the harsh realities that come our way. As a single mother of two (divorced -deadbeat dad) I understand every single word, and feel all of the emotions you have so eloquently placed into this verse. Good job!

I have to agree with you just because we try to hide our pain don't mean it isn't there, Some children grow up and forget what we have done for them through the many years. They don't realize all we ask for in return is LOVE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
Thank you for sharing Sis.
