“Without the quest, there can be no epiphany.”
Constantine E. Scaros
She stares out upon
The gloaming of the day,
Physical eyes blind
As her spirit turns inward,
Searching,
Seeking she knows not what
With a need stronger
Than hunger,
A calling heard
But not understood.
What is it that
Draws her?
What is it that
Promises
An unknown something?
Something vital
And profound-
Necessary,
Something beyond
Church teachings,
Something demanding more
Than mere comprehension.
It feels maddeningly near,
Dancing just beyond
Her imagination,
Cloaked elusively
In mystery.
Perhaps if she
Continues to wait patiently
With eyes turned
Inward
It will one day appear
And answer all
Her questions.
A change of pace from many of your other postings--and so well written. Good poetry, I believe, is more about possibilities than it is about you, me, us, and what we all do and say. Super write!
Your poem captures that quiet, inward turning so beautifully—the sense of something vital hovering just beyond reach. I especially love how you render the “maddeningly near” presence that draws her forward. It feels like a portrait of spiritual intuition in motion, waiting for its moment of revelation.
