This is one of my first attempts at poetry. An English professor at the university I attended enjoyed it and had it published in the university paper... I'm not sure if that was an honor... lol!
Would the Christ applaud his followers?
He was a good man
for all it’s worth,
He had no ill
no mortal birth...
They say he suffered
and then he died…
It seems so strange,
Though I can’t say why
He spoke of love
and a higher way,
Yet his followers seem
to have gone astray...
They kill and maim
all in his name
to expand this simple man’s
unwanted fame.
If he is the Christ
can he see us now?
Does he applaud
when we pray and bow?
A simple man
with a simple way,
whose followers seem
to have gone astray.
This is not intended to be a condemnation of modern Christianity or those who follow Jesus Christ. It was written in context of certain historical events.
THAT'S WHY HE DIED. BECAUSE HE SAW THAT HIS FOLLOWERS THEN AND NOW...WOULD GO ASTRAY. THANK GOD THE 'SPECIAL LAMB'...WAS WILLINGLY SACRIFICED...FOR US ALL. Man is God's concept, and where it gets screwy is when Man gives his concept of God, that is called religon.
Nothing wrong with thinking and then inking, I do the same thing. There are many things that don't make sense in this world. the worst thing anyone can do is not use their own brain. Look at what some of the Catholic priest are doing. "fragrantlove3," is finished Lori,hope you like it. l&p G

Very well written, your Eng' prof' had vision, we must never stop questioning, that's how we grow, but If he was not the Christ then it would be the biggest con trick of all time, in my humble oppinion, He is nearer than air we breath.

Christ Himself wondered how much faith would be in the world when He returned.Happy Easter. We have a merciful God Who can forgive all our trangressons if we but say to Him we are sorry and mean it.
Lori, this is an acute observation of fact and a well-asked question. I, as a firmly committed Christian, can only make apology for the little of Jesus that people see in our lives - those of us who profess to be His "followers". We certainly need more of His agenda and less of our own - and more of His almighty power rather than trying to achieve in our own strength. I have been working on my own "Credo" for tomorrow which falteringly seeks to work through my own beliefs - about God, Jesus, His Holy Spirit, Church and the world - totally self-indlugent, but also an apology for the way that we, the established Church have, maybe, to a large degree "lost the plot"! Keep searching for the truth, Lori, and honour the questions. I believe that the dearest thing to God is an honest heart. KB

He didn't male any extraordinary pretenses moving among the poeple. He did his work with as little fanfare as possible. He led by example of His Fathers will. Yet with confronted with the question
of his deity at the trial before the crucifiction , He didn't deny his deity. He fulfilled the letter of the law as it was spoken by the Word. Sunday we rightfully celebrate His victory over death. Happy Easter Lori to you and yours. Bill Murray
