Our emotions are always bought with one thing or another - diamonds, fast cars, holidays overseas, grand wedding receptions et cetera. "Diamonds can lie forever" is a powerful line! Unfortunately the hypnotising glitter of the stone blinds.

I have written one "Would You Take Me Back" - kind of on the same page but on a different level.

We too often relate the feelings of love to the size of the diamond. I don't know how many times I've heard someone remark, "Oh he must really love her..Did you see the size of that rock?" We live in a materialistic world, with materialistic values, and we've been there so long we've forced the propaganda on our following generations.

Lori dear, while diamonds are a girl's best friend and diamonds are forever, I could simply swear that a man has no respect for the integrity or santuary of the marriage. Now while not all men are this way, there is a very good majority of them that are. We are lured by the diamond ring, the soft whispers of enderaing love, and all the while the man speaking those words have other ideas about what is decent in HIS world, not ours. My fiance keeps telling me he loves me every day, but why doesn't he send me flowers? Or why doesn't he call me on the phone? Or why doesn't he send me thigns to show his true love for me? I mean, I am not a material girl, but we are separated by a few thousand miles. I just want to know that I am still in his heart. Words can be empty nothings, when the man has ulterior motives. Do they marry us just what they can get at night? I mean if that is so, aren't there places a man can go for that? I would giggle a little here, but this is a subject too close to home for all of us women who have been betrayed by a man and it is not even funny. When I finally finish my autobiography, everyone will know the treacheries, the horrors, the decption I had to endure at the hands of men who made empty promises. Thnx for sharing sis, this really is true for all of us. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. This poem slaps the reader on the side of the head and reminds us that people don't change, no matter what fairytale they choose to reside in. Deception remains deception even beneath the white veil of commitment. If I had a dollar for everytime a man wearing a wedding ring begged me for favors under the guise that "his wife didn't understand him or his needs," I would be walking in much nicer shoes. Great poem, Lori!
