Good poem but I am praying there will be a revival in the Church so that Christians truly become Christ followers. For those of you who will not align yourself with a church because of the hypocrisy, I would encourage you to take a second look--you might want to change denomination or try a non-denominational church, but don't give up on organized religion altogether. The Church does a lot of good in the world and the fact that we are not perfect is no reason for abandoning the faith.

Clear-eyed and sadly all too true. God is great... it's us Christians that are the trouble! We have a lot to answer for, that's for sure. The raggle-taggle disciples are a good picture of the Church worldwide... yet, when God moved through them, the power of Christ went with them. There is a great difference between being an open and free-flowing channel/conduit and being a faulty container! xx

I saw a bumper sticker out here in LA that says: "Keep your values off my rights." This is exactly what you seem to be describing. Well done Lori.

Lots of truths in this poem, Lori. There are far more hypocrites than true Christians these days me thinks! I believe in God and I pray, but I will have nothing to do with organized religion! These organizations are merely businesses that get rich off the backs of the parishners. The real joke is I was baptized a Roman Catholic. Now where on earth will you find a bigger bunch of hypocrites than them? The Pope lives in a city of gold, and people around the world are starving to death. I don't think that is the way it would be if Jesus were still around. I could rant for days....but I won't...giggle. Really enjoyed your poem.

Nobody, not even Christians, are perfect, but I certainly do agree with you that there are many people who call themselves Christians who violate all that the term represents. I am spiritual and I am a Christian in that I believe in those teachings, but I struggle with aligning myself with any church because of the things they teach and the way they "decide" how God intended for things to be. If we are truly Christian, we must learn to accept all people as they are and learn within out heart not to be judgmental.

Yeah, I got ya / As bad as certain "christians" are, Lori, there are other "religions" who are so much worse / Say, if you were to put Allah in the place of Jesus methinks it would work a little better / I don't see too many christians killing their brethren, but I do see plenty of Muslims killing anyone who does not believe in their wretched beliefs. But of course you dared not write THAT poem.

Impressive, for as you know I am not a Christian (in the sense that although I believe Christ lived and was a great man and a wonderful leader of men and faith but not a God), saying that I must say I too am often amazed at the total hypocristy of those who profess to be followers of Christ and then do, and I don't mean slip up now and then,but do just the opposite of what he stood for. Well done Lori, this one hit home.
