I saw a interesting photo on Facebook today that put my muse into action. The photo I have picked is just a nice nature picture.

Poem Artwork

If you where living on the edge on a hot day,
Would you not dip your roots into the river?

See the ripples of your action upon the lily pads,
Feel the coolness of the mother earth below the surface,
Drink from the water, spreading it to your leaves,
And watch the butterflies flutter into the sky.

Would you not dip your roots into the river,
If you where living on the edge on a hot day?

Creative thinking at its best. Hope there are still some rivers flowing in my drought-stricken area, because I am ready to go and dip the toes.

I would but with my luck the river would be polluted and my roots would wither up and die...(ah, for pessimism, as without it we wouldn't have optimism...)e

beautifully composed Kate
I would quench my thirst by the river
pray under the shade of an oak
thanking God for giving me the substance of life
Love & Peace be with you

If I were living on the edge...I would span out and embrace the life giving cool waters of that river so that every leaf would swell with the deepest green and allow my branches to sway in the gentle breeze. Excellent work, Kate

Great poetry that stirs the intellect to ponder the greater meaning of life.

Very nicely done, and you bet I'd dip my roots into the river. Yes!
