What in the world is O'Malley up to now?

Poem Artwork

On O’Malley’s Way

O’Malley returned from digging holes in the Waif’s lawn.
He searched for her hidden gold, the whole night long.
He was dirty and tired but giving up wasn’t in his personality.
So he’d keep searching and probing if it took all eternity.

He cleaned up in a spring that was near by his old rock.
He had no idea the time for he didn’t own a clock.
But he was determined to go to town once more.
To search for that gold but differently than he did before.

This time he’d ask the town’s people what they knew about the Waif.
They’ve got to know something; he’s got to make them feel safe.
For he knew they protected her for she’s done so much for them.
It wasn’t gonna be easy and he had to admit his chances looked slim.

As he approached an old man in town rebuilding his shabby home.
He stopped to chit chat with him for awhile because he was alone.
“Hello Mr. O’ Reilly, how’s it going on this old home of yours?
“Oh fine O’Malley, would you like to take a small tour?”

That Waif gave me everything I needed to build it just right.
Without her help, I’d be at the bar, higher than a kite.
“Where does she get the funds to help all those in this town?”
“Do ya think she keeps it hidden and completely underground?”

Oh, O’Malley I really don’t care about from whence it came.
I only care that it did, and that she remembered my name.
This is gonna be harder than I thought O’Malley was thinkin.
And all his exuberating ideas were currently downright sinkin.

O’Malley walked away with his head bent low in defeat.
When he bumped into someone, right there on the street.
The Waif was just standing there with eyes cast in suspicion.
He knew he was in for a lot of her untimely inquisition.

“Why did you dig those unsightly holes in my front lawn?”
“It must have taken you all night and right into the dawn.”
“Oh, I was looking for my watch that I lost the other day.”
“Sorry about your lawn Waif, it was just along my way.”

another wonderful tale from a very creative mind -- he is a devious little fella isn't he? -- not my kind of leprechaun is this nasty little one -- but I think the Waif has the measure of him -- much love and peace Bonnie my friend -- Jon Michael

I like this and in my mind I can almost feel sorry for poor O'Malley, but maybe his Irish charm will work it's way into the waif's heart and her bed...lol
