Yesterday I found an old photograph
Must have been taken a million years ago
I would not have been surprised
To see dinosaurs in the background
How could we ever have been that young
I was staring at you with a look on my face
A look of pure hunger
Like I could eat you alive
I remember that feeling vaguely
You were staring at something out of frame
Probably wondering if it were warm enough
To wash your Harley
Or how you could get the beer
You left sitting on the porch step
Without too much effort
I'm sure it was something
That had nothing to do with love
Unless you count the love
You obviously felt for Harleys and beer
We came together like lightning
The only thing that kept us together
As long as we were
Was the love we BOTH felt for you
It was the one thing we had in common
I loved you
But you loved you even more
I couldn't compete
