I'll admit it, I've gained a few pounds
Well, quite a few, truth be known
And I've been painfully aware of it
You ladies may know what I mean
The apologetic stage,
Where you find yourself apologizing
To the supermarket cashier
'I don't usually buy this fattening stuff
just an impulse, I really shouldn't'
as if she really cared
the excuse stage
'my metabolism has slowed down
these past few years
I sit all day at my job, no exercise'
And of course, the irate stage
'I guess at my age I can eat what I want
its not like anyone notices anymore'
yep, that's me
or at least it was me till I found my man
that's right it was a man who changed me
I'm slimmer, sleeker and pounds lighter
And I'm madly in love with an older man
one no longer here i'm afraid
but he's firmly in my life
