Pronouncements by prophets
Courtroom drama entertains
Words ridiculous and inane
No semblance to reality
The play personifies banality
Counselors trained and articulate
Nuances in the law innate
Instead they bend the truth
Like a theorem without a proof
Jackals might do better
Than these imposters of letters
Actors take center stage
Pretend to be confident and sage
Words intended to contaminate
Confuse, embarrass, and prevaricate
Justice—a limited commodity
In this courtroom oddity
The scales seldom balance
Without fairness and due diligence
Laws enumerated and codified
Left to tricksters who defy
Justice at every turn
Integrity of no concern

My sentiments exactly. Law was once an honorable profession, but has changed in the last 50 years drastically. A writer named Walter Olsen has written some excellent books detailing how basic premises of law have been turned on their head. I don't remember the titles, but if you ever see them you might want to read them.
My daughter is a lawyer, but not a trial lawyer. I have told her the world needs good lawyers. Unfortunately, too many of them fit the description of this poem.
This is excellent work - good rhyme, appropriate choice of words to describe these dishonest lawyers.
Yech! Don't remind me. I just came from a two-yaer court battle. Your poem brought back major flashbacks, which means you've done your job well. :-) ~~Nordette
