Somewhere I hide
The real me
What to do today
Who to be?
I could be the smart one
Or maybe a cute flirt
The only thing I do know
I will not be hurt
Uncovering layer after layer
You dig so very deep
I will charm and beguile
The Subterfuge is complete
Please don't let me keep you
Do what needs to be done
I will forever protect me
For all that I have won
While I ache to discover
Exactly who I am
To live as I was needed
I think I'm just a scam
Am I an actress
Or maybe a God
I amuse myself
I am a fraud
A being with little need
Planting seeds in your head
Seeds of doubt or maybe hope
I almost wish I were dead
Accept me as I am today
Tomorrow I will be born anew
The day after I cannot say
It is all up to you
Sigh...I didn't know what category this would go in...so I thought drama was as close as I could get. They don't have a "messed up in the head" category anywhere. Anybody know where to find that one???? Good day all and Blessed Be.

Introspective poetry can be the most thought provoking. Self-examination is the motivating force for many poets. I enjoyed this one. I found myself asking some of these questions about myself.

Poetically this is truly wonderful! Revealing all is tough and risky and poetry allows us that outlet.. the last verse brought it home for me. I know you to be upfront and all that you are.. parts of this suggest that you are not always entirely what I see.. you've conveyed the idea that "what you see isnt what you get"..
