Met on a blind-date through
a mutual friend; he actually saw
her through a cracked-view, but
still admired her outward beauty.
Love immediately fell into place
She moved in with him – sold all
that she had; not to mention her
money was now in his bank account.
She also gave up her career and
401k – no more fidelity, but rather
infidelity on his part, like to drop
his pants when the babes flirted.
And then his dominating ways
began to surface like a person
who drowned, and then floated-up
all mildewed and smelling musty.
Got so incredibly bad she was
even afraid of her own shadow
That is to say whenever there was
one around – kept her locked-up.
He abided by the adage of ‘Should
be seen [sometimes] and not heard’
She asked him one day, “What do
you do for a living?” Had never told her.
“Oh, if you must ask – I’m a bronze
sculptor;” “And to make-up for all my
nastiness, I want to make a bronze
statue of you my betrothed!”
“Please, come with me to my workshop”
She reluctantly followed; “Here, through
this narrow door;” Walked right into his
deliberate trap – she heard the door lock.
His wife was in the mold; then came the hot
wax – filled every pore of her skin; she could
no longer breathe, could no longer scream
All the life in her was snuffed out in an instant.
After the bronze-casting, placed her on the
front lawn – all passer-bys commented, “My,
what a lovely statue, so lifelike!” Told law
enforcement agents she died overseas.
One night, he looked out and the statue was
gone; then heard a loud creaking noise coming
up the stairs; it was her, all bronzed; shoved him
out the 2nd story window; “Consider this a divorce!”

A great story of revenge and restitution, was there a truck coming down the street that ran over him? (Sadistic!) Loved it, sheer suspense and emotion-filled all the way.

Many forces at play here, a common reality blended with a strange idealization, shadows and suggestions of Pygmalion/Eliza Doolittle and Professor Higgins...I like the basic theme and how you develop it and where the poem goes. Highly creative and imaginative.

Wonderful tale, Lance!!!
Okay...now you've got my story bones going. Now all thoughts are coming into my head, and my head is now once again filled with all kinds of stories.
Perhaps I should begin to post the old ones first. I need to tone them up before I post.
Great job with the storytelling!!! Can you do your own storytelling show?

The next part of the poem surprised me as you mentioned he told officials that his former love had died overseas. This added a suprise twist in the poem.
Well written, imaginative, and you were able to pull me into the poem.
Excellent work, as usual!
