As darkness dropped her velvet drapes, the scarlet sun sank in the silver sea. Walking along the fading beach, I came upon a deceased bird; Later, in the darkness of my room I dreamed. A bird was trapped within my space. It fluttered against walls and ceiling; I felt its deep distress. I opened the window; It flew to freedom. Later, I woke. Marvelous birdsong echoed in my soul. I looked out through the open window. Above, perched on a dark dead snag, its eyes lifted to morning sky; the bird sang and I felt death depart.
THERE IS SO MANY DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS ONE CAN GO WITH THIS SHARING. INDEED, THINKING ABOUT THE SOUL LEAVING THE BODY, AND THOUGH WE SEE...DEATH...IT IS REALLY...LIFE...FOR THE SOUL, WHO LEAVES THE 'CAGE' OF THE BODY TO FLY...FREE. THUS, THE DEAD BIRD YOU SAW...WAS REALLY ALIVE AND FLYING. A REMINDER THAT IN BOTH LIFE AND DEATH...THERE IS BEAUTY. AND I GUESS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EXAMPLE WE HAVE OF THIS IS THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST...WHO DIED TO LIVE... FOREVER. ENJOYED, REGIS AND THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
Resurrecting this birg even in a dream beings a song to my heart. Be safe little birdie, forevermore, go sing your song from the highest tree.
W will not have to week for they as death did depart.
Beautiful opening lines! Dreams work in mysterious ways. Just one image can make a writer's mind create. Perhaps the morning song was meant to chase away the image from before. This one comes full circle! Thank you for sharing this~ Sheila
You save a bird, a soul and in return you save yourself from the drab. I love the title of Resurrection and I really think that it sums up what you are trying to say. excellent.

Dear Regis, I clicked onto this poem because I thought it was about Jesus but this is so wonderfully beautiful that it actually is! The bird is alive and what words and imagery you are able to play at your disposal!!! I envy you for the seemingly easy flow of words and color that comes from you. Love and take care, Meredith
I tried to comment on this one when it first posted Regis but due to AD problems couldn't.....I really like the mystical feel and imagery of this. What a wonderful "capturing" of emotion. Just lovely.
Your work always speaks with such a lucid, deceptively "simple" clarity somehow, but achieves such wealth and depth, and carries parables of knowledge and insight. You seem to write in Feng Shui!! This certainly resonates on the strings of MY soul, Regis, and I can feel this unfathomable feeling with you - and sense of relief! First line really smooth and soulful - wonderful metaphor! You exist in a class of your own. TY Kate xx
Wow! What depth!
My mother used to say a bird in the house was a bad omen. If the bird perched on a bed, the person or persons who slept therein would die. Since we didn't have screens, birds often came inside and, at first, I feared they'd land on my bed. Then, slowly, it didn't matter that much whether they did or didn't.
Glad your bird was just a dream but a beautiful one. Dream on, my friend :)!

I can understand this one quite well, hard to believe, but being "str8" tonight things do look quite different...such beauty is enclosed in this poem, as death "can" bring beauty as well...Keep Peace in your Heart, Ed & rufuz
