Poem Artwork

Choice

I came upon
(She called me…
…to the field…
…and grateful I am.)
A field of flowers
Before me I
Looked more closely
Each one different
Each one lovely
Many beckoned
But one particularly
Nodded and motioned
In sweet breeze
Of naked circumstance
She stood out
Wafted her scent
Upon the winsome breeze
She sent
Her sunshine smile
Her softest petal touch
Her voice
A nightingale’s
Angelically sweet
She played
The piano
She aroused
The guitar
Strummed emotions
Powerless to resist
I chose
To choose her
Lost I am
In the storm of consequences
The deluge of rumours
I will always love her
Must move on
Whatever that means
Hurting will not be denied
Nor will she
Be less than the goddess
Who took control of me

AN EXCELLENT WORK, REGIS. OUR 'CHOICES' ARE NOT ALWAYS WISE, BUT I GIVE CREDIT TO THE ONE WHO ADMITS THEIR 'ENJOYED' MISTAKE...BUT THEN, SEEING HOW GREAT THEIR FOLLY WAS... MAKES THE HONEST DECISION TO MOVE ON AND 'WALK AWAY', WHILE THEY STILL CAN. AMEN. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

No matter what people say it is not that easy to move on, to stop loving that one person who meant the world to you, to whom you've opened up completely. The hurt, the pain never truly goes away. :(

I am not sure how this poem is meant to be read but when I read it pausing at the end of each line the flow is off for me... But the content is great - very emotional and moving. I can feel your pain.

I so agree with Michelle. It doesn't matter if we have loved and lost, but what matters is that we keep trying to find our soul mate. For those of us who can find that one special person to live and grow old with, we are very lucky. For many years I cried because no one seemed to care. Then one special person came along, and made me very happy. The same can happen for anyone. As Kenny Rogers sang in Coward Of The County, "There's someone for everyone...", and I really believe that.

Chin up dear brother, because when you least expect it, there she is.

when you wrote ..."must move on, whatever that means, hurting will not be denied", I lived these words for decades. I moved on, and continued moving on, until fate stepped in and offered me a helping hand.

The heart is a lonely hunter, but we must be positive. This piece reminds me of the battles I fought over the years, mainly with myself. This is an emotional, surreal piece that delves into the heart, and makes us think. When poetry can do that, it is all good.

Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), little sister, Barbie
