The leaves were dancing on the tarmac,
Raindrops glistened in the air,
The temperature had took a nosedive,
But to tell the truth, I didn’t care,
There’s something about an autumn landscape,
Greens and yellows, reds and gold,
All the colours of the rainbow,
Such a wondrous season to behold.
Naked limbs among the foliage,
Mother Nature hard at toil,
Showers of leaves of every genre,
Fall to fertilize the soil.
Spring has sprung and summer’s blossomed,
With all the beauty it could bring,
But now the world must shed its garish colours,
For winter’s waiting in the wings.
And winter brings a whole new beauty,
With its coverings of virgin snow
A protective shield across the landscape,
Guard the unborn seedlings down below.
Then when winters reign is finally over,
And spring can once more take control,
To wake the sleeping, dormant seedlings,
And encourage all of them to grow.
To beautify the fields and meadows,
With every colour, shade and hue,
Every branch and naked tendril
Dressed in leaves and born anew.
Summer brings the fragrant blossoms,
Birds and bees and petals bright,
Creatures scurry through the woodlands,
New born fledglings taking flight.
Till once again we come to autumn,
Where all the seasons must combine.
Everybody has their favourite,
And autumn, I’ll admit is mine.
