Perhaps it is time that we need to replace the old, auld lang syne, New Year's anthem in the 21st century. Perhaps not.

Days of Yore

Refrain

Raise a glass to those days of yore,

To all the ones gone before,

To all the ones lost in war,

To all the ones lost and poor.

To all the things left undone,

To all the chances left unwon,

To all the regrets under the sun,

To all the loves lost in fun.

(Refrain)

To all the writers we have known,

To all the artists who have flown,

To all the musicians still unknown,

To all creation’s light not shown.

(Refrain)

To all the wonders yet to come,

To all vying to be number one,

To all world changing under the sun,

To all with freedom and equality run.

(Refrain)

Raise a glass to those days of yore,

Hoping for a better world and more.

YOU KNOW ME, RON, I SAY...RESOLUTELY, PERHAPS NOT! WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT THE 'PERSEVERING STRENGTH OF YESTERDAY' WHICH HAS USHERED INTO THIS PRESENT TIME! LET'S DO AS THE SONG SAYS (...SHOULD OLD ACQUAINTANCE BE FORGOT...) AND NOT ENTIRELY FORGET, THE 'BRIDGES' THAT HAS BROUGHT US OVER. ENJOYED, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Ron, this is one of my favorites of yours. There is great substance in these lines, each loaded with meaning and mattering. “To all the things left undone,” and its following three lines are my favorite. They are ‘bread and roses’ — bread is the undone things, roses are unknown musicians and undiscovered creations. “To all the world changing under the sun,” together with your contributions, are adding to “…creation’s light…” They offer changes under the sun for online language arts and fine arts that affect anyone who reads, looks, and wants to understand, debate, discuss and be understood. You help in that gift freely given. Thank you for this, Ron* ~~ djl

If I were producing this, I would use two acoustic guitars - six string and twelve string - an upright acoustic Bass, a harmonium, and an oboe ghosting the voices. HNY. rlc

That "better world and more" is going to take a lot of work, but appreciate this musical inspiration as we move forward with attempts to get it done. A very happy New Year to you and yours.
