That stinkin' pork pie strikes again.

Poem Artwork

The dog police came by today

Responding to a call

From a mysterious voice they said

They’d thought they’d heard it all

Something about a canine crime

A murder so to speak

But they couldn’t really figure out

The voice had such a squeak

So they dispatched a patrol car

Out to investigate

And when they knocked upon our door

My fears would not abate

The officer said someone

Had reported on the phone

That a Labrador retriever

Had turned his friend to bone

Mudder became hysterical

Master got concerned

I knew right then and there

That I would soon be burned

They dug around the back yard

The purported scene of crime

Returning with their sad results

In very little time

They’d found the crime scene boneyard

It really was quite awesome

It seems the bones in question

Were those of an Opossum

And then I heard the giggles

From behind the closet door

That stinkin’ little pork pie

The crime had framed me for

I almost went to doggie jail

For a crime I did not commit

I bow to canine CSI

For keeping me legit

And of course the little pork pie

Got all the treats and hugs

Maybe ole Rufuz was right

She should be sleeping with the bugs
