On September 2, 2009 the City Council of Honolulu Hawaii attempted to enact an ordinance to fine "smelly" people riding the city bus system $500. The ACLU was less than amused.

I was thinkin’ about stinkin’ As I watched the milling crowd How one man’s favorite perfume Is another’s toxic cloud Honolulu Hawaii Has caused a mighty fuss They’re going to charge 500 Bucks For stinkin’ on the bus We’re not talking subtle acts Of cutting silent cheese We’re talking body odors That knock folks down to their knees Just who is the inspector Is not exactly clear And how they set the standards Ignites discrimination fear “You smell like an Arab” “You smell like goat” “You smell like a Hindu” Now everyone take note Since I wrote this essay I’ll let my opinion sing with glee To let those know who wrote that law “You smell like your own O-ring” to me Copyright 2009 Patrick A. Great write
very creative piece
I know I have smelled some of those
bus riding stinkers passengers myself at time
The best thing to do is get off the bus
and walk to your destination
or wait for the next bus on the route
or carry some cologne to spray them with......

Patrick, I think some people can smell really gross and when on a
crowded bus, it can be terrible. However,I don't think it makes any difference what they are,and i don't think you can fine people for having an odor;-) I don't think the law will stand!;-) Great write!
