Just a dark humor rant

Poem Artwork

Synthetic America

I’ve got a ring side seat

To the demise

It’s flimsy brittle plastic

Toxic and cheap

Made in China

By peasants seeking a better life

Now enslaved

Like us

To the punch clock

Of our crumbling Manifest Destiny

Stuck in reverse gear

As past debts

Are repaid

With current debt

With ravenous interest bulging

With corporate Karma

With blood

With currency devaluation and

The promise of another fix

From the COSCO narcotic pharmacy of

Walmart and 99 Cent Store trinkets

The United States of America

Has been purchased

Essentially for beads

Manhattan Island was purchased

By the Dutch in 1626

From the local Canarsee Indians

For beads

The Canarsee resided on Long Island

The real residents of Manhattan Island

The Lenape tribe

Went homeless and beadless

History repeats itself

The Wall Street warrior tribe

Of New Manhattan

Lick their chops and count their beads

Unearned spoils from the sellout

Of what they have never owned

Just as the 30 day extended warranty

On my broken plastic ring side seat

Expires

Quite a statement, Patrick; sad but true; I always appreciate your unique sense of humor. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Apt analogy. If only you had listened to the advice given to The Graduate, you'd be retired and living on your own island off Taiwan.

Plastic religion bounces rosary beads across the world like the globetrotters b-ball and Meadowlark Lemon was always a saint in my eyes, the boy had moves. Government pours its greed from a mold of toxic rubberized agenda...well-written, Patrick.

Sage

This time the Lenape aren't the only ones who are left homeless. So many have been devastated by this recent mortgage meltdown.
Money doesn't sleep, and I guess neither does greed. Great thoughts, Patrick :-)
Blessings,
Christine

Occasionally you deviate from humor with words of absolute seriousness, yet your words still have an undertone of humor. So well stated here, my friend.

Poem's very effective, Patrick, and I find also the comments enlivening and enlightening. Bankers and their abacuses, eh... if only they had originally used leaves as legal tender: then we might ALL have had a windfall around about now! Astute and acute as always. xx

Fantastic job Patrick. Ditto to everything Paul, Jasmine & Peter had to say. Will we ever learn? Thanks Dick

It's all our own fault, Patrick. All we have to do is say..............
"NO!!!!! I will not buy anything made elsewhere. I'll pay a bit more to buy MADE IN THE U.S.A. to support and save my country. This is a real sore point with me, my friend.
REAL AMERICANS - BUY AMERICAN ------ NO EXCUSES!
BROKE? OUT OF WORK? HUNGRY? Fine---then eat your import!

Yikes, black is right, boy have you got a gifted tongue, sounds sort of like the guy, the one about the tortoises and the hare, forgot his name some Ethiopian I think. Each get's a turn at the wheel, and soon enough China will be full of .... well you know, but with Korea heating up, and now Iran, one never knows, we might actually use all that bancrupt war machinery, and then start again hm. Oh, I forgot the bankers, we need guiliotines, or if more gentle, be like what they do in the middle east, first the right hand then the politicians ha, and so on. Great write Patrick!

most excellent rail against the insanity, rage against the machine. yup, the bankers sold fraudulent derivatives (all derivatives are fraudulent, by the way, as they are not legal tender but an alchemy of financial tonics based on fictional, notional amounts), sold these to investors, pension funds, endowments, banks, etc. and now that they've gone bust, the same criminals demand repayment in real money with compound, loan-sharking interest. it's the greatest fucking heist in all of history!!
