Each year our peach tree is pilfered by the local squirrel union. This year we got exactly one peach for ourselves. One. We’ve always suspected our dogs have had a secret pact with the fluffy tails, we just haven’t figured out what it is. Terriers are famous for their rodent skills. Maybe she’s fearful for her knees, or maybe she’s on the take.

Alas, I know the feeling well. Speedy the Garden Mouse always steals my best tomatoes - just when they are perfectly ripe and juicy - and my mutts always seem to give him a free pass. He must bribe them with Milkbones stolen from someone else.
Goodness! What a fantastic photo! We have rabbits that like to sneak into our garden and make holes in the cantaloupe. We play this game to see who is going to get to them first. Great tale...
Patrick, try wrapping the trunk of the tree with extra heavy duty aluminum foil from the time the fruit becomes attractive to the squirrels until after the threat is gone. If there aren't neighboring trees or wires for them to use to gain access into the tree, the foil should prevent them from climbing up the trunk. Dick
