Old Dick wrote a poem about a month ago addressing the conundrum men face when asked the age old question by their significant other, “Does this make my butt look big?” He offered a tip of the hat to anyone who could provide an answer better than the one that got him into trouble. I have taken the bait and offer this guidance as a public service advisory. Please do not send me your hospital invoices.

Poem Artwork

Q. Do these pants make my butt look big?

Sample of a politically correct answer:

·        No dear, of course not.

Samples of politically correct answer with modifier:

·        No dear, of course not, but then I’d say anything to get into them.

·        No dear, of course not, they cover your assets perfectly

·        No dear, of course not, you are amply proportioned.

·        No dear, of course not, you have such a tiny waist.

Samples of non answers:

·        Dead silence (usually starts a fight)

·        Appearances are butt fleeting memories my dear.

·        Looks can be so deceiving my dear.

·        I think I hear someone knocking at the door.

·        Um, figuratively or literally?

·        Is this a trick question?

·        Do they come in another color?

Samples of wrong answers: (assisted suicide catalysts)

·        No dear, not nearly as much as your dress does

·        No dear, but your zipper is smoking

·        It fits in the mirror doesn’t it?

·        I can’t tell until you get them up over your thighs

·        No dear, spandex becomes you

·        No dear, those big pants make your butt look small.

·        No dear, pumpkins come in all sizes

·        If I tell you I’ll have to hide the scissors.

·        Gee, the weatherman was right; there is a full moon tonight.

Mighty buttsy of you to post this, but even funnier that you make the butt the butt of your humour...

How about: Darling, I wed you for butt or for worse, and believe me I've seen worse.

Then there is the 'butter 'er up' response: Like me, those pants are all for you, and the sighs do matter, so let's not butt heads over it, sweetie. No ifs, ands, or butts need apply. Don't worry honey, no one would accuse you of being too cheeky.

And then there's the backhanded complement: Don't worry about it sweetie, in my eyes you'll always be flabulous.

Anyways, Patrick. I am mighty impressed with your ingenuity and I think your responses should be professionally annalized.

Where were you when I needed you???? Guess next time I go on a cruise, I'll just purchase an extra ticket and take you along, or maybe I should just memorize the best of these and keep them handy.

Good stuff Patrick, Thanks Dick
