Muse refuse. Aka, Garbage in-garbage out. Or perhaps just a simple failure to cooperate. My muse turns 60 next Saturday on St. Patrick’s Day. They say 60 is the new 40. I wonder if that’s true .

Poem Artwork

My muse is fearless.

He jumped into a volcanic pool for a swim

Nary a blister

My muse drank a quart of hemlock

Merely a burp

My muse was run over by a bus

Not a scratch

My muse grabbed a tornado by its tail

Not even wind burn

My muse ran laps around the moon

Never breathless

My muse turns 60 next Saturday

Has his attention

Sixty is the new forty

Oh goody

My muse has an opportunity for a mid life crisis

Again

If your muse was named Gerry, he'd be looking for 'a trick' to play, but I know he's not geriatric BECAUSE of all the tricks you play!

Here's to keeping old 'Gerry' at bay until 90's the new 60!

Keep those midlife crises coming. That's one good thing about the muse, you can beat on it all you want, and it comes out unscathed. Reminds me of something else… you can do it at 40.

Actually, Patrick, there is life after seventy, and I'm attesting to it, too. Well, after seventy there's not life in "everything".

Sincere. Amusing. Scary. Authorsden is turning a year older and what is to become of us? What of our poetry and blogs, and stored articles for which we preserve like a garage full of stuff put into Public Storage. Memories. What are they worth? Perhaps you should take you muse out for a beer!

I never worried about the age I was getting . . . Except when I creeped upon that seventy mark. Shit! I screamed to whoever was around, people start dying when they hit seventy. That was three years ago this coming April, I'm still hanging in . . . Seventy is the new forty? I think that is right. Miracle drugs keeping everybody alive and, for the most part, feeling good.
