This fantasy poem came from the picture a friend sent me

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Washboard Blues

Rub a dub dub, I'm an old man in a tub
My little lady says, its time for a scrub
A child worry's about soap in their eyes
As the man in this tub, I will tell you no lies

What is definitely on this mans mind
Fear for my sensitive parts and my bare behind

Well soap in the eyes is sure no fun
But when I look at that washboard
I'm sure thinking, it's time to run
Soon I need to make my move
For I have those washboard blues

The smile on my ladies face
yes says just one thing to me
She's enjoying this way to much
for my liking you see

As we battle it out in the tub
I wonder what could be the score
I want to know just one thing
what's that darn washboard for

I protect my sensitive parts, make no mistake
While making plans, as I hope for my escape
But she knows all my great moves
So here I sit, with these washboard blues

Don't get me wrong
for I love this lady you see
But that washboard sure is haunting me
What could be on her mind, this lovely after noon
I know one thing,
I should make my break real soon

I know laundry for her is no fun
But it's my bare butt,
out here in this scorching hot sun
Yes I have those dreaded washboard blues
Please someone give me some news

This trembling body of mine not to metion my
wrinkled behind, can't take much more
Tell me please
what is that darn washboard for

Has the laundry put her in this fowl mood
Does my lady also have the washboard blues
I must do something and real fast
You know, to save my poor wrinkled ass

Honey I have great news
I can solve your washboard blues
Today I will do the laundry
if you could just turn me loose

My lady oh what a great sport
She just danced away as she said
GOOD!!
you can start with your shorts

I may have spoke way to soon
For I still have these washboard blues
I scrub my shorts on this old washboard of mine
I'm just glad it's not my poor wrinkled behind

A funny tale...a great poem... that's some old-fashioned fun! My grandmother and my mother (and then I, too) used such a washboard...now I'm glad no one ever put me on one!! heheh

And yes, after all that came the skiffle time (wasn't it called skiffle?) some great music there!

Thanks for the smiles, Ray...a clever lady you've got!

Now, you have been repeating yourself not being a poet, OK, understood, you are a weird funny man worth of the Infamous Ed Brother's household!
But we have been getting a lot of excellent poetry that if it isn't from you, so let your alter-ego come forward and get out of the way! LOL
This kind of washboard was used by our Ed-hillbilly-father to make music.

What a hoot!! Your bio hit me right between the eyes. I just started this and it is fun! Plus I get to exercise the gray matter a litle now and then. Great stuff. Patrick

Hi Ray, LOL! I think maybe the lady had another plan since your butt was shrinkled in the sun, she got you that way for a reason, and I think that you went and spoiled it all by telling her that you would do the laundry! I didn't know that's what a man thought about when he's shrinkled.... :)
