The Accident

Human and metal sometimes reckless

Upon tar and dirt roads

Hysterical laughter…sinful bliss

Tickle the senses touching ears

High on alcoholic use

Hands roaming spilling demon juice

Laughter deep into the night

Moonlight bleak…face weep

Danger lurk through the night

Destiny awaits…cow peeps

Gruesome danger…brakes fail

Horrifying screams fill the night

Machine and human touch ground

Tearing metal and bodies scattered around

Flesh and bone meet concrete

Dancing in the sun…silence

Morning papers front page

Few died last night

Children’s cry now homeless stand

Tragedy strike yet again

Tinka,
I read in the paper all the time of tragic accidents, lives taken so quickly, young and old, it knows no age. Outstanding write, Tinka. One of your very best.

Many blessings,
~Linda

Heart shattering; I hope it wasn't part of your family. Such incidents are incredible cruel just for alcohol. When will people learn?

(((Tinka))),

You may have saved lives today in heartbreaking verse: but will mankind ever learn? I've been sober 24 years now--what stopped me? Blacking out behind the wheel--thank GOD I didn't wreck out, kill anyone, or get stopped: enough is enough. Sad thing, though, the drunks usually come out with only a few bumps and bruises (if that) while the carnage he creates will resonate for a long time. Well done

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I like the chopped sentences. That gave the poem a music quality to match the message.

Powerful write my friend...why can't people just drink at home, if they must drink, maybe they wouldn't hurt anyone there...maybe? Great posting, I have lost several friends to driving under the influence, and several friends to other's whom were driving under the influence...sad thing!
Blessings,

Very tragic poem of the consequences of drinking and driving and the sad fact of life is that it still goes on this day even with all the education on it.

Like how this flows Tinka...and your message flows right along with this, sad but true episode of many and few, but even one is enough!
If only...If only we can get this message out there and have people actually believe it can happen to them. Putting it like you did, in "The Accident" has more power than most...it brings it so close to home, so to speak...
Very well done!
Love and Peace~

A tragic but true reality. A car becomes a weapon on the road and innocent people die at the hands of those irresponsible enough to drink and drive. Thank you for making us aware; it never hurts to hear it just one more time.
