In the shadows of the afternoon
As the sun shines from above
The magic of the day beds down
The creatures of Cade's Cove.
As shadows stretch across the road
The centuries rattle on
Ox driven cart, a pioneer
All are going home
The spirits hum a beaten tune
As evening time is made
Then silence brings the world to close
With shadows of night's shade
In all the history catches up
When night comes from above
When ghosts of yesteryear beds down
For all here in Cade's Cove
This is beautifully penned, Susan; well done! Evokes memories of the past, of my youth...when boughs of trees bridged the roads and made me feel safe. Love it.
If we could all just escape to a quiet place like this for a few hours or so a week perhaps calm would once more reign in a troubled world. Beautiful picture and poem Susan....Fee
