You never really know yourself until you experience absolute aloneness. My almost weekly camping trips deep into the desert/prairie are sometimes terrifyingly silent and solitudinal. When you know there is no one for 30 miles in any direction to hear you scream or watch you dance, you soon find both fear and exhilaration entwined.

Communion #3

Not running to the majestic Rockies

But into vast flatness of prairie.

Dark night softly surrounds me

She comes riding hard

Through the bright starry sky.

Goddess of Creation

Spreads before me her intimate self.

Wine is poured and she drinks

To my holy toast.

I feel her smile

Breaking through my intimate solitude of night.

Between the darkness

Of the starlit sky

And the wide prairie vast

She spreads her body open

Engulfing me

With her passionate love

As I enter her infinite being.

She offers me more

Than I can take.

Her silent gasps

Tear open my evil heart

Coyote howl.

Lions roar.

Antelopes run.

Wind stands still.

My entire being stripped naked

All that is within me

Laid bare for her to see.

At the dawn of morning light

In the quiet of the rising sun

Goddess Creator leaves

A love bite on my neck

I long for her to stay

And try to hold on

But she is gone

Leaving me weak with satisfaction

And the taste of her wetness

And the morning dew

Lingering on my tongue.

Isn't solitude so stimulating????? I love my alone time, I cherish my solitude but mostly I love my love time...

This is a very well written poem about the beauty of discovery and awareness.

Peace, love and light,
Amber
