When on the threshold
Of the winter cold
Forest resets its foliage,
It does it because
Of the natural call
To protect the soil
And what is hidden
Underneath by mold.
By no means it’s because
The forest’s inability
To keep the foliage on
Throughout the winter.
In fact, the naked branches
Are not the attribute
Of woods "poverty,"
As the fallen leaves protect
The trees’ root system
From the frost bitting.
Knowing this feature,
No one would interfere
In the natural process
Of the seasonal cyclicity
When the winter sleep
Is to be replaced then
With flowering and revival
Of inescapable spring.
