Poem Artwork

Spring blossom and leaf fall in autumn:

There is neither 'being' nor 'non-being';

The myriad things never reckon upon

Any 'pros' and 'cons,' never estimate

A new balance of opposite strengths

Emerged from the circular changes.

Without asserting or denying themselves

But always on the edge of life and death,

They are a cycle sophisticatedly termed

'Transformation within, transformation out.'

On the edge of anything is intriguing, and especially as you point out, opposites, where the edges overlap in strange ways. I think your last line sums it up: "within and out". John
