Today, December 30th, is the 13th day of 11th month of the lunar calendar

Poem Artwork

Since all the troubles that encircle and impact him

Are external in nature and not penetrate within,

The damage he suffers will not be gravely lethal.

Yes, his troubles depress him from outside,

As he is not yet affected fatally from inside;

Hence his survival in difficulties of the cold.

Upon returning home, he faces decease of the year

When all things come to the end of an annual cycle,

Preparing for lying dormant; hence his course dying.

Denning up becomes desirable after backbreaking toil

In the autumn fields when all folks concur about

Transitoriness and frailty of the human subsistence.

Not sure about the first few lines. What happens on the outside does impact us on the inside, much more than we may care to admit. Love the photo of the monastery. I have been in places like that in Ladakh, although in summer without the sun.

Interesting take on year end contemplation. I also felt some of your poem applicable to all of nature, even us humans who need to learn more lessons such as this.
