Under the weeping willows
Beside the smoky stream,
I come upon much spoor of wildfowl.
Footprints are everywhere,
Shaking down the morning dew --
Even beneath the velvet depth
Of the flowering moss, I smell the flock.
They lead toward the nearby meadows;
My course is clear -- clear as the nose
At the tip of my snout, as I freeze,
Coming to the point, to my master's
Joyful arousal, he's full alert.
And only the azure heavens
Fall on my back from mid air.
You are really on point with this one. Those pointers and retrievers are amazing animals. You have a very dog's eye view of their world as though you had a camera mounted between their ears that could hear and smell what they can. Cool!
