The Dance

This is a lighthearted poem; a combination of both poetry and humor.

   The Dance

 

Last night I went to a dance.  I never had so much fun.  

I danced with all the eligible men that were there, each of them one by one.  I was captivated by their charms; as we danced they held me close in their arms.

I was overjoyed to see how they all admired me. I was as radiant and as beautiful as can be.

 

My friends on the sidelines were glancing as I was on the floor dancing and dancing.

I was a wallflower myself in the past.  If I got picked at all it was always last.

That seemed like such a long time ago; while tonight, the wallflower I’d been, no one would ever know.

 

My admirers all adored me I could tell. 

I was beautiful, and stunning, just like a southern bell. 

As I danced with each of the guys, I joked with them lightly and looked at them with confidence in their eyes.

Where did I get this new confidence from?  I felt like a teenager on her first prom. 

Could it be because of the red silk dress I wore, that fit me very fine? 

My curves were all in the right places and were all very well defined.

 

Suddenly as I was dancing, I heard a loud ringing sound in my ear. 

The ringing was loud but it seemed that no one else was able to hear. 

The ringing continued and just wouldn’t stop. 

Finally I opened my eyes and reached for the clock.

Soooo funny!!! HA HA loved it.
I bet, though, that you could find a red dress in silk and make at least most of this dream come true!?
