Allowing my muse to run away with me. This a sampling of monkey chatter expressed as it came to me for a recent challenge on 'Lasting Impressions'. Note the vacillation between rhymed portions and free verse. I wanted to post it as I wrote it but I did divide it up a bit to make it easier to read. I will spend time honing it later. Thanks for reading my work and encouraging me. It is much appreciated.
African moon Savannah blood Crimson moon Primal flood Drum beat Heartbeat da dum da dum
Scream.... Sigh Birds in flight Night's slow light Shadows Lion's roar Sea shore Arc of halogen Rainbows echo Sea spray Inhale...breathe Tribal cry eeeeaaaaaa War dance thump thump

Unusual and thrilling composition, as your poem includes the rythms of Africa- it catches the atmosphere of southern Africa perfectly (I worked in Africa for many years)- certainly strikes a chord with me. Franz

Chanti, I agree with Steve and Paul. This is such a vivid painting of a life I had only seen in magazines and movies. I have a friend who is in Africa right now, and has offered to take me with her, the next she goes there. Of course, I will accept (giggles). The only other country I have ever been in, outside the United States, is Canada, when I was in my pre-teens, and my uncle Bob lived in Detroit. We would go across the Detroit river into Windsor, Ontario. I have never been overseas. Chanti dear, I have always liked the way you write, and this is no exception...wait...yes it is...I don't just like this, I love this. I like to look at the stars and the moon. I have a pair of binoculars that when the moon is closest to the earth, I use them, and I can see the craters of the moon clearly. By the light of the silvery moon, twinkle, twinkle little star, we should never get too far from all of the beauty that surrounds us, either in the sky, or right here on our fabulous earth. Thnx for this very wonderful poem, Chanti dear. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly.
