For so many years I've given you my healthy branches
clean water , fresh air, skies a whiter shade of pale
I've given you clean lungs and a nose for me alone.
Then you began to neglect me and I was aching to,
tell you what a grave mistake you'd make if you,
with all your little gadgets and neglect ignored,
the calling of my whispers and my tender urge;
See now, how the world decides to purge,
through an alien virus that does not flatten curve
if only you'd pay heed and plant the seed,
tomorrow you can grow me a rose for I am in need,
of a river that lends accord, fresh air that grants
of a life that gives possession to, my nature is love

now your living for today waiting hoping, in the trenches.
...great verse. Not a new message, but it bears repeating and now hard to dislodge. The Mother Nature's response to human wrong-doings that go against a basic law of nature. Your lines should serve as a warning, that we might experience even more such events (like the novel coronavirus crisis) in the future, as our planet Earth warms up. This upheaval, producing widespread misery, may be Mother Nature's way of resisting humanity's assault on Her essential ecological-life-giving-system. A lot to thing about... When my wife and I hiked regularly we left nothing of ourselves behind except footprints and prayers. This piece brings to mind something Wendell Barry said: "Our destruction of nature is not just bad stewardship, or stupid economics, or a betrayal of family responsibility; it is the most horrid blasphemy. It is flinging God's gifts into His face, as if they were of no worth beyond that assigned to them by our destruction of them." I couldn't say it better. Thanx for sharing. Light and Wisdom... rlc
