Running Away from Home at Fifty…or just thinkin’!

Is it the thing to do?

Am I making a mistake?

Should I notify anyone?

Should I pack a bag?

Or should I just run and don’t lag?

Ran away a few times when a kid,

Never made it very far, to Philly, almost,

Got brought home by the cops,

Back then they just brought the kids back,

So the parents could use a belt on the kids back…

Did that make it any better; scare the kid from going again?

Didn’t make it better for me, got beat, I just let it be,

But now that I am fifty, no worries about getting beat,

No fear of anyone taking my bag, no scary thoughts in the night,

What to do, oh what to do, I am herein not actually running,

Just thinking about how it would be to go someplace new,

The greener grass and all that sort of goo..

But don’t worry, as I am more mature than just to up and run,

Especially since the money is tight, and the motor home don’t run…

Can I come along? Huh? Does your motor home float? We could sail her to Ireland and shore up in Cork. What'd'ya say, Eddie? Yes? I'll start packing. God, I love this one, m'dear.. it reminds me that being called a 'grown-up' doesn't mean we can't have adventure. No way! I'll bring the water wings. You bring the scones/bread (wink) katy xox.

Funny you should mention that Ed, Here of late, I have had the same thoughts. I will have a complete auction and sell everything I own, then buy me a cheap motor home, I know where I can get one that runs for a thousand. And then just take the money and run.....

Sometimes a change is exactly what we need, no matter what the age. Staying where you are unhappy is not a good idea.

Ed, wonderful write. I guess you're going nowhere. Especially with the gas prices the way they are. probably cost more for the gas than to fix the motor home.
