I am the gold medalist for the future Olympic Team of Sleeping...

Poem Artwork

If this team did exist,

I could be a gold medal winner,

Being able to sleep through being beaten with a fist,

Sleeping through a hurricane or tornado, been there, done that, do you get my gist?

Able I am to sleep through the worst of Natures fury,

Winds and rain, sleet and snow, disasters so bad others would run, yes go,

Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, even the extreme heat found in Missouri,

Then there will be the time that Michael Jackson will be laughed at by his jury…

Some may say it is depression, the ability to sleep through all the above,

I will agree to a point but maybe it is due to boredom or lack of love,

So when the day does come for an Olympic Sleeping Team,

I will be ready to stand, er, uh, lay down for our nation,

As I will be the Olympic medallist trained throughout life,

To be the one, the only one I might add, to go for the gold,

And to capture its prize, that of sleeping away the rest of my life,

For I will be there to break the mold, to be the one totally & completely bold…

But all Olympic team members need to practice - a lot.

Drag yourself down to the beach, and fall asleep there; and if the flies and crabs don't wake you up, as they are devouring your flesh, then you'll probably make that team!

Ok, go for the (sleeping) gold, but you may have some competition if they also add snoring as an olympic event! (grin) Jaysus, Eddie M, this gives new meaning to that familiar advice: rest up! ha! katy xox.
