If only my life was a "busy" as my dreams...

Poem Artwork

"I live in my own little world. But it's OK. They know me here."  (author unknown)

A warrior I am Not…

In life I am a relatively peaceful sort,

Minding my own business never do I go out and cavort,

My only worries are Rene, Sinders (our horse) & Rufuz, those I want to support…

But oh in my dreams, I am a tireless fighter, battling the hordes of invaders,

Invaders of my nation of which I am quite patriotic,

Flags blowing in the wind off the sea, incoming fire, we are the consummate crusaders…

Hand grenades, M-16’s, sixty caliber “Rambo” guns with unlimited ammo,

All of us dressed in uniforms of sorts, only to hide us from invaders, yes camo,

No actual killing do I seem to do, not in my dream state or so it seems,

Just protecting what is ours, what we have owned throughout life,

We fight for ourselves and we fight for the oppressed sometimes using only a butter knife,

If a strange story I do tell of here, remember it is only my dreams,

Some nights I am at the beach relaxing, the others I am going to extremes…

I feel very comforted knowing you fight in your dreams, Ed. After all, our minds are our biggest cache of ordnance we have, and if we set their sights of stopping injustice, we have helped humanity. :) You are very brave, Ed.

Sinders? I didn't know you had a horse. Want to buy a corral, here, in Arizona, to keep it in? Jerry's selling ours... No oceans, but seas of desert abound! ;)

Hands down, unquestionably and entirely, Ed, this is not only the best you have ever done (in my opinion) but it is in the realm of masterful! Filled with provocative honesty, as you are nearly unequalled at writing, but it connected so with my own thoughts. I love the part where you see every minute detail, but not yourself actually killing anyone. God, that's sooooooo me! This is an absolute treasure, my friend. You've outdone yourself, to my mind. Great poem! katy xox.
