Muskrat love it is not, crossing against the signal it is…

Muskrats do love to cross the road,

Like the chicken I guess to get to the other side,

But once there they seem to change their minds,

Maybe they are all female, they’re right to change or abide…

So many seem to get creamed,

Are they better in cream?

Do they at the last second of their lives scream?

If so, do they scream for ice cream?

Or do they call out for their mommies?

A question of the intellectual variety I am sure,

Bet you we hear of a government study,

In the coming months, dealing with muskrat screams…

In NJ the muskrat being so abundant,

That signs have to be erected to warn,

The wayward driver of impending danger,

Don’t want to hit one of these little creatures,

But better them than a skunk,

The odor afterwards most certainly did “stunk”…

Road kill of any variety has the aroma of stank...particularly down south in the hot summertime.
