HUMOR...?

Poem Artwork

Today I did die…

Before my time,

Today I did die,

Seem to go many places,

Saw many familiar faces…

Told I did die too soon,

Don’t know by whom,

A voice from above?

Seemed so full of love…

My family, mom and dad,

All there weirdly dressed in plaid,

All were to see me quite glad,

I seemed the only one a bit sad…

I worried for Rufuz, my puppy,

I wanted to work a bit longer on my new job,

If I had had one, I would have worried about my guppy,

They did say I was not allowed to be dead,

This day they were not accepting any yuppies…

That pissed me off even more; I thought I was a hippy,

Flew around to complain of my untimely death,

I did so on wings quite zippy,

To go back is what I wanted to do,

To once again be alive and to catch a breath,

Did complain to God and his angels till I was out of breath,

Not sure what did happen, but as you can see, I am here,

Life I right now and forever will always revere…

Who says complaining never works? Yeah, I'm going to appreciate what I've got too.

In a topsy-turvy, round-a-about but very poetic way, Eddie M, you kind of wrote an inspired invitation to us all to step back and appreciate just being alive! That's always a good thing, I'd say.

What's wrong with plaid, may I ask? I might prefer that over the blinding white they all seem to have on in the pictures... actually, I think I'll request herring-bone... yeah, that's it. Oh, and not a single one of us would doubt that you would have "zippy wings"... can you get me some? Yippee!! I love this... and I'm glad it's NOT TRUE! katy xox.

a light side to your dark humor ...

br glad heaven thought you were a yuppie, if they knew you were really a hippie you'd be surrounded by flowers by now ...

Glad to hear you made it back from your Near Death Experience, my friend - not many do. And some interesting info you've shared - Plaid is worn in the After Life, very interesting, indeed. But I must say, the most startling news was that you were called a Yuppie. Wow! It must have been a case of Mistaken Identity, and they were calling a different Ed Matlack.
