CAUTION: Totally irreverent and naughty and I am sure I will one day pay for this one...;) (I hope god has a sense of humor?)

Poem Artwork

I would like to introduce to you the next new pope…

So sorry am I that I am quite irreverent,

Will get my payback from god one day I am sure,

But for now I just have to introduce you to the new pope,

For all you catholics out there just chill, you are gonna have to cope…

He does have a leg up, so to speak, on other popes of the past,

He is already in the news like most priests, in fact of them he has surpassed,

So many little boys he does know quite personally,

He already has something to give up in lent; yes he can of boys, fast…

Now I do not say that he is not innocent,

And I would certainly not want to the new pope, misrepresent,

I got to be honest though that I doubt that he will ever repent,

Though he does say they all did give him their verbal consent,

We got to admit though that MJ did commit a breach of trust with fraudulent intent…

Well, definitely bold. God does have a sense of humor, although the humor in this is a tad more than "slightly" twisted. He knows you meant well as the whole situation is media-bent for another place--and I don't mean heaven. Media puts too much attention on the "bad" things in life and then thrives on it--anybody ever thought of broad-casting the "good" things in life and thriving on that? OK-I know, that's another day, another story . . . b

MJ is choir boy, compared to the papal system ED, dont even trouble yourself over having a shot, the whole things stinks to high heaven, and Im sure God isnt amused being mocked by popes who claim to be God's vicar, last time I checked that was Jesus. Oh dont get me started aye.

Black smoke, white smoke, poo to that too.

Love n hugs

I tell you, if one does a search on the History of the Papacy, you'd wonder what the fuss was all about. They should all be in jail, and I was raised Catholic. Murders, rape, incest... every atrocity you can think of.

Best,
Elizabeth

Most comedians are irreverent, ED. Court jesters have special protection from folks who've lost their funny bones. ;-) However, I don't think I can call in protection for ya from the Jersey good fellas, Catholic, you know, the police neither, Irish and Italian...more Catholics, but I do know some Jamaican bad asses...Rastas...they can hide you 'til this whole poem thing blows over. LOL. I'm down for ya baby. ~~Nordette

I got this same cartoon from Roger via email recently... am I to understand that you have entered into a "two heads are better than one" affiliation...? lol lol

Perhaps, my dear Eddie M, you are aware (or maybe not) that you are probably the ONLY writer in AD who could get away with this irreverence... you have a talent for softening the blow, though it is a bonified 'one-two' punch, indeed. (grin) katy xox

Irreverent, yes, but very funny just the same. The Catholic Church is going through a difficult time now and I have to say that I think that it is most unfortunate that the actions of a few harm the reputations of the rest. Who can you trust if not a Man of the Cloth? Priests live an unnatural life in their abstinence, and I think that may be the root of the problem. I have always believed that testosterone was the most deadly substance on the planet...store that up for 40+ years and everything must start looking like a target.
Take care,
Sherry

As I am not religious who is pope not matters to me, so I can see the humour in your daring poem Ed. But seriously the authorities of any religion seem to brush anything under the carpet we poor mortals find disturbing.

Well,I'm not sure if we should put him up until the jury in California comes back. I guess considering the trouble the Catholic Church has been through over the last few years, somebody had to write about this. Thanks for trying.
