A fire alarm is a necessity these days,
It can help us in a multitude of ways,
Warning us of fire, smoke or flame,
Allowing us to escape, before our bodies do become aflame…
Above you see an inexpensive model,
If the jiffy pop does on the wall pop,
Best to get your butt in gear and from the house hop,
If you are a bit over weight, from the house you will need to waddle…
I don’t recall our house having one of these,
Though we had a lot of smelly smoke,
Dad would just ask us, “Ok, who cut the cheese,”
One of us would get out butts smacked,
And sent outside on the porch, to stand for ten minutes,
Till that butt would pretty much freeze…

PS Don't forget to change those Jiffy Pop Fire Alarms once a year. When the popcorn kernels get stale, they often don't pop, and you might sleep right through that non-popping alarm.
