I would love to visit it someday but as for living there...nah think I'll remain on the East Coast...only have to worry about snow storms here.

okay,good poem,but you fired me up !California, is the best, you just have to know where to live. I'm in Northern, been here 20 years, have yet to see a fire,earthquake, or any other horrific weather. Yes, Santa ana winds can be awful i hate them, but they only come as season changes and for a couple of days. the weather in October, was almost 80%every day nights 50-60%. All of this month has been 72-80days-pm 50-60#...I'm 25 minutes from the ocean, and if I want snow, 45 minutes from the glorious sierra mountains.I've lived in Fla-Conn-Illinois-New Jersey-Canada-California beats them all with no comparison! You asked for it Ed,you got it;-)Also the people here are more friendly than most any other wherever i've been.

And that's not even mentioning the vast variety of industries etc.It's said this state could be a country on its own,and i agree!;-)I haven't even mentioned how all the other states i used to have to deal with hurricains, tornadoes,blizzards, etc all of which never occur in California!

Everyone should live in California at least once in their life!
I have lived so many places thruout the US where I have experienced EARTHQUAKES....TORNADOES....HURRICANES....CYCLONES....HAILSTORMS...DUSTSTORMS... MONSOONS....FLOODS...SANTA ANNA'S....DROUGHT....ETC... and each one left me with that feeling of fear, wonder, excitement, pain, joy, and much more... the secret is to get the heck out there before the next big one hits!!! :-)))))) lindalaw

beautiful state actually, quakes don't do all that much, lived through many; most are just little rumbles, the fires are ferocious as always, it is the bane of the season

I was born in the bay area, lived in the big valley most of my life, would not mind moving back, but i think, maybe one of the higher elevations where it is not so warm in summer

Never say "Never," Ed. Did that in 1980 - was living in Utah at the time. Texas was having their worst heat wave, EVer. Every day on the news, they'd tell how many Texans died because of the heat. I looked at my brother and said, "I will NEV.er live in Texas." Three years later, joined the Air Force, to travel, you know? (On my dream sheet, had Alaska, Alaska, Alaska, Northern Japan, Alaska.) Figured six weeks Basic in San Antonio, six months training at Wichita Falls, then I'd be on my way to Alaska. Twenty five years later ... still in Texas. Grrrrrrrr ... LOL Bloom where you're planted, it's said. (But Karen and I still want Alaska, so now we're saying, "We will NEV.er live in Alaska." LOL) Good write.
