Poem Artwork

Our world is full of shortages,

No bigger is the plight of famine,

Some have so much, more than enough,

Some have so little, making life tough…

Is Earth Day enough,

Or is it just for most a bluff,

The world can’t in one day be fixed,

By the next day the memory for most will be nixed…

Living where I live, with the woods, a creek & little sound,

Does make one forget the outside world,

Nature does of us for the most part surround,

But I for one do each and every day,

Remember the earth as in it we play…

Being in the creation does give a peace of mind and rightness when there really is a "dearth" in most of the reconstructed world, Ed. You said it well. If only we could cherish the earth and each other a little more.............Jerry

Every moment you say thanks, and it should be every moment, and when you take a breath, thank MOMMA EARTH for sustaining your life, every moment you breathe, you breathe still don't you?

I was raised in the country and now find myself in the concrete jungle. I miss nature so much. You are right on. Earth Day should be observed every day just like Christmas.

Around here we have Nature too, where fertile land for wheat are converted in golf courses, where fertile land are devastated by enormous strip-mining, where wild live reservation are the object of oil-drilling, where they are protesting for the environment as they slaughter whales for "research", where overfishing have decimated cod and salmon to nearly extinction.
Yes, hapyy earth day!

Georg

Hi Ed, Each and every day I remember when as children we could walk along a roadside and pick wild strawberries... each and every day I remember because there are no more wild strawberries... so how have we honored the earth, and how do we still honor the earth? So much has been lost... not much left to play in..

In Spirit,
Bear

We should all celebrate Earth Day, each and every day. And I think our dogs our much smarter than we are; they do celebrate all of nature, each and every day. Take good old Rufie for a nice Earth Day Walk today, Bro - I think I'll do the same with my dogs. They'll probably teach me something new, too.
