Dad did pass in 89’,
I wish he stayed on a bit longer,
But he had a rough life,
A drug abuser for a wife,
And a criminal for a son,
Didn’t give him much fun…
We of course had our good days,
Dad used to take me for rides on the el’,
From one end of Philly to the other,
Stayed home at the shore did my mother…
To the Wildwood boardwalk we did go,
For all the great rides way back then,
Hunts pier had all the best,
But still we visited all the rest…
I wish he were still here,
I might have to buy the beer,
To learn from, now that I realize,
He wasn’t such an old fart, like I used to think,
As now I am the old fart, my mind & body going on the blink…J

Heartfelt write!
I enjoyed this very much. I wish he was still with you too, and my Dad with me. All we have is memories.
